About Coffs Harbour Pool Resurfacing

What this site is, who carries out the work, how the rules pages for Coffs Harbour and NSW are written, and what happens after you send a suburb, a pool type and a photo.

What this site is

This site is a referral service. It connects pool owners, landlords and small accommodation businesses on the Coffs Coast with local pool contractors. When an enquiry arrives, it is passed to a local contractor, and the contractor carries out any work. The site does not resurface pools, quote, sign contracts or inspect anything. No team or staff are described here because the work is not ours. What the site does is explain the finishes, set out what the sources say about the rules and suggest what to ask, so that you are better placed to compare what contractors tell you.

Contractors are responsible for holding any licence or certificate that applies to their work. NSW Government pages list "painting and surfacing (rendering or applying surface coatings) of a swimming pool" inside the swimming pool repairs and servicing category and say a licence or certificate is needed for that category. This site makes no claim about whether any particular finish needs a licence or certificate, and it makes no claim about any contractor's licence, insurance, warranty or experience. Check the contractor's licence category and expiry on the NSW licence check, and ask Building Commission NSW on 13 27 00 if you are unsure.

Why the rules pages are here

Resurfacing a pool looks like one purchase and turns out to involve several sets of rules that most owners meet once: the licence wording, written contract thresholds, where pool water and slurry may go, dust from grinding, and the pool register and barrier. They are spread across NSW Government pages, Building Commission NSW, Coffs Harbour City Council and SafeWork NSW. Two pages gather what those sources say: licences, contracts and warranties in NSW and draining, dust and pool barrier rules. Where the sources stop, the pages say so.

For many pool resurfacing questions the useful answer is who to ask, and in what words.

How the rules pages are written

  • Everything is dated. Each page describing a rule says the month it was written, November 2026, and the thresholds quoted are the published figures at that date.
  • The source is linked. Regulator and council pages are linked wherever a rule is stated. Manufacturer data sheets and trade articles are labelled as such and never generalised: the pages say "one chlorinated rubber data sheet says", not "pool paint needs".
  • Where this site and the source differ, the source is right. That is stated in the dated box on each page, and it is meant.
  • Gaps are said out loud. The Coffs Harbour City Council pool page covers new pools and the NSW Swimming Pool Register, not renovating an existing pool, so the pages say to ask the council. The NSW pages do not map each finish to a licence category, so this site does not either.
  • Other councils are examples. Where a rule comes from another council, it is labelled as another council and is never presented as Coffs Harbour law.
  • Nothing here is legal advice.

What you will not find here

  • No reviews or star ratings.
  • No gallery of past jobs. Photographs are illustrative only and do not depict specific jobs.
  • No prices for the work. The finish, the repairs found under the old surface, the tiles and the access all move the number. The cost guide explains what changes the price.
  • No list of contractors. This site is not a directory and does not rank anyone.
  • No claim that a rule does not apply. Whether a job needs approval, a certificate or a particular licence depends on the job and the address, so the pages say to ask the body that decides.

What happens after you send an enquiry

  1. You give the suburb, the pool type, the current finish if you know it, what you are seeing, and photos, through the quote form.
  2. The enquiry is passed to a local pool contractor.
  3. The contractor follows up, and the terms of any quote, visit or booking are the contractor's, not this site's.
  4. Ask for a written quote, the product data sheet, the start-up instructions, the written warranty terms and the licence or certificate held.
  5. Before the pool is emptied, ask Coffs Harbour City Council where the water and slurry may go.

Districts the pages cover

The pages are written for pool owners in Coffs Harbour, NSW, Sawtell, NSW, Toormina, NSW, Boambee East, NSW, Woolgoolga, NSW, Korora, NSW and Moonee Beach, NSW. Each has its own area page, or shares one with a neighbour, with local housing facts and a pointer to the council. If your pool is elsewhere on the Coffs Coast, say where when you enquire.

What this site cannot do

It cannot resurface, repair or inspect a pool, quote a price, sign a contract, issue a licence or certificate, or approve anything. It cannot say which licence category a particular finish or mixed job needs, because the NSW pages do not, and it cannot say what Coffs Harbour City Council requires for resurfacing an existing pool, because the council page found does not address it. It cannot see your pool. Those questions belong to the contractor, Building Commission NSW, the council and SafeWork NSW, and this site exists to point you to them and pass your enquiry on.

Check the current rules before you rely on this

This page describes how the rules pages on this site summarise the NSW licence wording, the Coffs Harbour City Council pool page, silica controls and the NSW Swimming Pool Register. It describes the rules in general terms as they stood in November 2026. Standards, forms, thresholds and fines change.

The authoritative sources are NSW Government, swimming pool repairs and servicing work (licence page), NSW Government, checking your contractor or tradesperson is qualified, Coffs Harbour City Council, swimming pool approval and safety requirements, SafeWork NSW, work safely with crystalline silica and engineered stone and NSW Swimming Pool Register, information. Where anything here differs from those sources, they are right and we are not.

We are not pool contractors, builders, regulators or lawyers. For what applies to your job, ask the contractor which licence or certificate they hold and check it on the NSW licence check, then ask Building Commission NSW (13 27 00). Ask Coffs Harbour City Council about emptying the pool, registration and the pool barrier, and SafeWork NSW about dust and chemicals.

Accurate at the time of writing, November 2026. Always check the source before relying on it.

Questions

Common questions

Is Coffs Harbour Pool Resurfacing a pool contractor?

No. It is a referral service. Your enquiry is passed to a local pool contractor, who carries out any work. This site does not resurface pools, quote, sign contracts or inspect anything, and nothing on it is a quote. It explains the finishes and the rules and suggests what to ask before you agree to anything.

Who carries out the work?

The contractor your enquiry is passed to. The contractor is responsible for any licence or certificate that applies to the work, and for the quote, the contract and any warranty. This site makes no claim about any contractor's licence, insurance, warranty or experience, so ask for the details in writing and check the licence on the NSW licence check.

Does this site say which licence a finish needs?

No. NSW Government pages list painting and surfacing of a swimming pool, including rendering or applying surface coatings, inside the swimming pool repairs and servicing category. They do not say which category each finish or mixed job needs, so this site does not either. Ask the contractor which licence or certificate they hold and ask Building Commission NSW on 13 27 00.

Why are there no prices on the site?

Because the price depends on the pool, the finish, what is found under the old surface, the tiles and coping, access and timing, and one figure would be wrong for most pools. The cost guide explains each driver and what a written quote should itemise, so that you can compare quotes line by line.

Are the photographs on this site real jobs?

No. Photographs on this site are illustrative only and do not depict specific jobs. They show the kind of pool, finish or street, not a particular address or a particular contractor's work. There are no reviews or ratings on the site either, so nothing here should be read as a record of past work.

Where do the rules on this site come from?

From NSW Government pages, Building Commission NSW, the NSW Swimming Pool Register, Coffs Harbour City Council and SafeWork NSW, with manufacturer data sheets and trade articles labelled as such. Each rules page links its sources and carries the month it was written. Where this site and a source differ, the source is right.

Does the site list or rate local contractors?

No. It is not a directory and does not rank, rate or review anyone. It passes your enquiry to a local pool contractor and tells you what to check: the licence category and expiry on the NSW licence check, the written quote, the data sheet, the start-up instructions and the warranty terms.

Which areas do the pages cover?

Coffs Harbour, Sawtell, Toormina, Boambee East, Woolgoolga, Korora and Moonee Beach. Each has an area page with local housing facts from the 2021 Census and a pointer to Coffs Harbour City Council. For other places on the Coffs Coast, say where the pool is when you enquire.

Next step

Send a photo of the pool and a suburb

The suburb, the pool type, the current finish and a photo of the pool. That is usually enough for a price range before anyone visits.
